A few of you have asked recently about Zee and his absence from the forum. I sent him a pm this morning and got a reply just now. He and his wife have been on a nice trip to China and have recently welcomed a new grandbaby into the family. He has also been working on some programming for a new project, however has had some health issues and a couple of hospital visits in the last few weeks and will have corrective surgery later this month for a liver issue that has bothered him for some time. He asked me to let you know he will be back as he gets to feeling better and things settle down some and also said it was ok to pass this information on.

Hey Zee,
We're all missing you here. Congratulations on the new grandchild! That's got to be one of the most wonderful things in the world! Hope your trip was enjoyable. And wishing you a speedy recovery from your upcoming surgery!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.
As Bill mentioned, I've been somewhat distracted for a while now...most recently with a medical issue.
Many of you know about my 'liver issue'. Due to an injury many years ago, the left lobe had been atrophying for some time because of a stricture in a bile duct.
Every couple of years it would get blocked enough to throw me into the hospital where, with sufficient pain med, I would wait for the blockage to pass.
I knew that surgery was in my future.
Last July's episode was pretty bad. (A somewhat interesting story...I got admitted on the 12th and then my daughter was admitted on the 13th. We were on the same floor but she was in maternity. On the the 14th she gave us a grandson. Then she was discharged and then I was discharged.)
Two weeks later it happened again but much worse. My local hospital had to transport me into Philly for a procedure to clear the blockage.
It was time for surgery. So two weeks later I was back in Philly.
The surgery itself went very well. They removed the offending lobe (and a bit more when they discovered that the dilation of ducts was a little more extensive than thought).
But my bowels would not wake up and I ended up in the hospital for 15 days instead of the expected 5 or 6.
I returned home yesterday.
Prognosis is excellent. No change in diet or activity (the liver is an interesting organ) but it will be a few weeks before I'm fully recovered.
Stinking Hoppies are still something I can enjoy.
Time in the shop is going to be difficult for a while. T and I will be on the hook to help with our grandson until he's old enough to get daycare. In addition, I'm fortunate that both my folks (in their 90's) are still with us and I need to make some trips back home (Missouri) to visit them. I'm hoping I can bring them out here to visit their grand-children and great grand-children (my Mom will not fly and my sister and I will not let Dad drive that distance).
Thanks again for your thoughts.

Always good to hear from you Zee, and so glad the surgery went well. Just don't try to do too much, too fast!!

Good to see you back Zee. Glad the surgery went well, but it’s a good idea to make sure that all the pipes are working and running the right direction before leaving hospital.
And congratulations on the new arrival. It’s a rewarding time, but it does tend to get in the way of shop time.

Thank you all.
I'm mending well but it sure is hard not to over do it. It doesn't take much before I'm off for nap and wishing I hadn't done what I just did.
Catch you all soon.

Seems that the nap is one of the bodies best recovery tools. :lolb:
