More fantastic pictures, Stan.  Thanks very much.

I vote that we make Stan official MEM photo reporter.  Get him a giant Graflex, a heavy wooden tripod, one of those black drapes and one of those hand-held angle irons filled with flash powder and send him out into the dank, dark world of model engineering to bring back the next set of Pulitzer Prize-winning, Life magazine-worthy photo essays.  Oh, and hire him a bevy of beauties to schlep all that gear for him.  [Makes me wonder; how many beauties does it take to make a bevy?]

You are mixing timelines. The Graflex (the high end was the Speed and the budget model was the Crown) was in the age of flashbulbs. My personal favorite was the #22 which was quite large and had a standard lightbulb thread. Much fun replacing someone's bulb in a lamp with a #22.
I accept the assignment and am leaning toward the Weegee (Arthur Felig. NY Daily News. 1940) look. Fedora with press card in the hat band and an unlit cigar.

You are mixing timelines.

I know that I'm mixing timelines but my analyst says that the only way to get rid of the nightmares is to commit them to paper and laugh at them. I laugh a lot, especially so when I work on the Zee nightmares.  Hippos in tutus and Ponchielli's Dance of the Hours can get frightening at two in the morning.

Nevertheless, I have my suspicions about my analyst.  She once told me, "Maybe life isn't for everyone."

Nice to know I'm thought of...even if it's in your sleep. Keep it clean.  ;D

I think T suffers the same thing. That's the only explanation I have for the occasional morning bruise.
She denies it but has offered to try and replicate it while awake to see if a match can be made.
I decline of course. She's certainly one to try try again...and she can hurt me.

It was a great show and the weather may have cooperated to much as some may have stayed home did other things. Had a lot of interesting new exhibits, and the Tiger tank from down under is amazing V12 petrol engined, 16 channel radio control. The story of building the tank is an interesting read. I'm glad that I picked up a copy. The only downer was the trucking company that missed delivering the stuff for Little Machine shop. I would like to thank every one that came to make the show a success.
Nice to put some names with faces at the show. The club and forum tables were filled nicely. We had the shows plant broke down and loaded out on the trailers by 6:45pm, Planing has started for next years show. Hope everybody has made it home safely.

A big "Thanks" to the NAMES crew for an exceptional show!!
They really have it nailed and put on a great event for model engineering. The amount of work to do this is staggering and much appreciated.
I hated to leave early (around noon) but a ten hour drive was ahead. Got a lot of tips for valves, painting and finishing, etc. from some great guys.

The final slideshow.

I'd seen Lou Chenot's Duesenberg and this is every bit as spectacular.
The detailing is superb. Lou was explaining how he machined the camshaft. He made a (4 or 8x) wooden pattern and various gearmotors and a tracer linkage to the Bridgeport quill handle.

It was a great show as always! Enjoyed talking to all my friends and making a few new ones. Missed seeing you at the show George. Hope you had a great birthday! Thanks to all that put the show together. That is a lot of blood, sweat and tears! The atmosphere was very friendly and everyone had a good time.

Just a note for everyone. As you are walking around and overwhelmed by the sites and sounds make sure to keep track of the stuff you are carrying.
I was able to return a small stainless valve that someone had left at my table while they were looking at the Holt. Someone else left some plans from  another vendor. I am going to try an find the owner but may not be able to. The plans aren't that big of a deal but I know I would personally hate to lose something like that valve.

I will try to get some pictures up soon. Didn't get many but my friend Suzann did take some.

I can say that the valve was found after he called one of the directors, despite the fact the Holt was moved from where CJ said it was and to tell you the truth the valve was so small that it could have ended up on the bottom of some ones size 14"s. Always remember that opening your purchases in show can be a disaster. Plus for the new people with the button you have you may make as many trips to your car as your wallet will allow, along with food and liquid refreshment runs not to mention you also may come bacon Sunday at additional charge.

For those that want to make plans for next year. For parking the group has a shuttle bus making runs between the High school parking lot on Eureka rd and the Yack. It is only 4 short blocks from the Yack but plenty of additional parking  It runs on Saturday from the start to the last car is out of the lot. This year that was about 3pm, when the drive said there were no more cars in the lot. You can Google the Yack and high school to get an idea of how close they are.

Hi all,
My wife and I had a good trip home today. Stan thanks for all the photos. I was starting to think I was gone every time you posted photos of the MEM gang but I was at the end of the second slideshow. Thanks for all your organizing skills to make our little portion of the show happen. I attempted to take photos Saturday thinking I was thwarted by a full sd card, only to find it had not clicked into place. Resulting in lots of them on Sunday. Here's some more eye candy.

Here's a video of an engine that both Stan and I admired.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHMdw0xglFI

I located the book containing the plans and ordered it on eBay, as did Stan.  I also ordered a flywheel casting from Martin's Models:  5-1/2" diameter with 5 curved spokes.  My version won't be as shiny as this one however.

It's similar to the McOnie in concept but clearly an easier build, with no castings needed.  I was told that the plans are excellent as well.  The book has plans for two other interesting wobblers as well.

Thanks for the pix. Glad you got the memory card sorted out.

On the wobbler.  I believe Kurt is doing his CNC. I'm kicking around the idea of modeling the frame in Inventor, then 3D printing and sending it to Cattail Foundry

From Keith Rucker's website

"Cattail is a Amish ran foundry that runs as a sideline business to their farming operations. The specialize in gray iron and aluminum castings for steam hobbyist but will be glad to make OWWM parts as well. Since they are Amish, contacting them electronically or even by phones can be complicated. They do have a phone number that will allow you to leave a message and they will call you back, but don't expect anybody to actually answer (it is worth calling just to listen to the recording on the answering machine!) Most OWWM'ers will simply box up the part or pattern they need to have reproduced and mail it to them. Typically, six to eight weeks later, you will get your pattern and new castings back in a box with an invoice. They do excellent work and are very reasonable in price."

I was intrigued by the overhead crank oscillator as well.  I couldn't figure out what book the plans came from. Kvom's posting of the name Roy Ozouf helped.

The name of the book is Three Elegant Oscillators by Roy Ozouf, and appears to only be available on ebay. I'll order one too.

I suppose since kvom and Stan are considering doing the frames with CNC and casting respectively, it would only be proper for me to consider fabrication. We'll see.

You could also model the frames and 3D print them in metal.

I plan to model in the Engine in SW, so a STL file of the frame will be available to anyone who desires it.
