Has anyone out there built this engine:

I'm considering this for a class project at the Univ where I teach a shop class. Also thinking about Elmer's similar engine:

We have been making a simple oscillating engine, but the students are looking for more of a challenge.
I know Elmer's engine will work as built from the plans, but I don't know much about the older design.
I choose these engines for a specific reason and that is they all do a steam engine lab and the engine used there is very similar. That lab is made by a UK company and the engine is based on the Stuart Sirius. So I thought making a similar engine would be a good tie in to that lab.
Thanks all,
Paul
