Title: Hicks Marine (almost)
Post by: TonyM on January 24, 2019, 08:36:17 AM
Here is a video of my initial model of a Hicks engine. Its about 17cc and speed regulated by adjustment of the the inlet valve. This engine was to prove the concept could be modelled and next will be a model with more realistic detail.

It will work if you click on "Watch this video on youtube."  That is quite a proof of concept model Tony!! Will you be able to use some of the parts from this one on the "More realistic" model?

I could but it is unlikely as this is the first engine I've made. I hope to get a 1/6 scale Monterey clipper built and use the detailed engine to drive it. I have a couple of other big projects in the pipeline so it's all taken a bit of a back seat at the moment.

Thanks. The clutch lever is just hiding a small flywheel with the magnet for the hall sensor.  The important thing for me with this engine was to control the speed / power using the inlet valve lifter. That works to a degree using just the surface carb so I am happy to assume it will work better with a regular carb.
