Title: Centaur Gas Engine

Hi.
I have made the the govenor and am unsure of the rpm of the engine and what rpm on the cam shaft the govenor should start to act could someone help with the answer please.

I am guessing you want the engine for display rather than for powering something. It will probably be capable of running somewhere between 800 and 1000 crankshaft rpm so you want to look at the governor starting to act at 400-500 rpm. When newly assembled the engine may not be capable of these lower speeds so a range of adjustment is good to have. (This is based on general experience not specific to the Centaur)

Thank you for replying.Dose the 400-to 500 rpm take into account the half engine speed of the crankshaft.

Yes that is taken into account, 800-1000 crankshaft rpm hence 400-500 camshaft and governor rpm (assuming that the governor is driven by the camshaft)

Yes the govenor is on the end of the camshaft and thank you again.
