Some time ago I came to own a neat little torch. Only now am I checking it out....
It's like new and it's so cute I just need to use it. Trouble is, cylinders with a male 9/16-18 RH thread are sorta hard to come by I'm finding out!
I pinched the pics from other public sites...
My torch is the one in the first pic, the second pic is of a newer version I think...
The torch is an Otto-Bernz, Roch. NY, Model TX
A look at the company history tells me the torch was made in the early '40s. That's when they moved to Rochester then shortly after changed the name from Otto-Bernz to Bernz-o-matic.
Has anyone seen or used one of these tanks? Could the torch fit some camping gear tank? The european EN417 connector is 7/16 I think...???
Any assistance, or general discussion or banter or anything would be appreciated! :paranoia:
Thanks,
Pete

Hi Pete,
Over here you can get tanks with both metric and imperial threads (EN 15202). So I would start with finding yourself a propane tank supplier.
How are the seals on that torch?

Don't know about tanks, but thats my home town. Never knew Bernz was from here! Yet another company that left Rochester...

Pete, could you not make a brass adapter to fit todays common tanks on the lower end and then the 9/16-18 thread you need on the top end to fit your torch?

Hi Pete,
I'm sure you will find something suitable by searching the internet, see this Link https://www.homedepot.com/p/Bernzomatic-WH0159-Universal-Torch-Extension-Hose-361542/202539579 (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Bernzomatic-WH0159-Universal-Torch-Extension-Hose-361542/202539579)
