Title: Check Valves
Post by: majorm on October 11, 2014, 05:31:04 AM
Do any of you have any experience making check valves?  I want to make a small high pressure compressor with a few stages and need some different pressure check valves for each stage.  I have an idea on how to make the seats but don't know how to make or where to get the springs.  I could make it adjustable with a set screw behind the spring but I need to start somewhere.  I just don't know how to size the springs.  If any of you have and good valve designs you can share I'm all ears too.

Do any of you have any tips or ideas on how to get this done?

I would have thought that the springs would not need to be at all heavy, just enough to keep the valve against the seat. The pressure from each stage would keep the the valve functioning. Hugh.

They are usually reed valves. made of thin stainless steel sheet with a spring temper of about half hard....
Feel free to post in our introduction section with a little information about yourself and your engine interests.... 8).
