Just got a notice for The American Precision Museum's Annual Model Engineering Show. October 25-26 in Windsor, Vermont.
I showed last year and enjoyed it. Small show but good showing of engines.
My favorite machine in the museum is the first Bridgeport mill. Has serial # 1.
I plan on being there with the MEM banner.
Anyone joining me?
-
I wish Stan, but a bit far and much too busy a time of year for me. Hope you will take some more great pictures though. Will the RE be going along for the trip?

The Rider? As you-know-who would say,"Lord willing and the creek don't rise" it will be there.
-
Sounds like fun and I remember your pics from last year. That sure is way up north for an old rebel though :lolb: . Hey Vern, cheese ships very well though, doesn't it Bill 8)

I will likely be there this year. I skipped the last couple years because they moved it to the Columbus Day weekend and the hotel I usually stayed at went from about $70 to $150. I dislike paying crazy prices. This year they are back to the old dates so I will go.
It is a small show, but it makes a nice weekend away for me so I enjoy it.

I'm going. Chris is going. Ron is going.
Anyone else? Steamer??
I'm taking the MEM banner and I can save spaces.
-
I'm looking forward to it.
It is about 3 hours from my doorstep.
I'm also looking forward to grabbing lunch and a few beers from the Harpoon Brewery (5 minutes away from the show).

With the show coming up this weekend, other than Ron, Chris and I, anyone else going? Steamer? Anyone?
-
Don't forget your camera Stan :)

I wish I could run up with some of George's Collection, but the auction schedule keeps us close to home. Hope everyone has a good time and a great show!
-
All ready to go. Empty flash card. Charged battery. I'll try to post from the motel after the show depending on the bandwidth available. If not, Monday.
-
Another nice attraction at Windsor, in addition to the Precision Museum, is the Harpoon Brewery a bit north of Windsor.
Harpoon serves a great lunch and the beer could not be fresher.
I'm looking forward to photos from the model show.
Regards,
Chuck

I just returned to the motel after the show ended. Although it’s not a large show, the museum does a very nice job running it. Setup was yesterday, followed by a wine and Vermont cheese reception. Small groups were taken on a “backstage tour” of the storage floors where the part of the collection that isn’t currently on the main museum floor is stored. Amazing collection of items ranging from large machinery to a Brown and Sharpe micrometer that measures to .00001 (it was used to QC gage blocks.) Didn’t seem to be a problem when I was lying on the floor to get a look at the bottom of the hot cap on their 5” Rider-Ericsson.
I’ll be leaving for the 6 hour drive back home in the morning. Here’s an album to give you some idea of what went on.

Darn good looking show Vern. Looks like the RE had a few family members there as well. Also some nice tandems. Only two things I saw wrong, one, I wasn't there and that last pic :lolb:
-
Hi Stan, thanks for sharing these pictures. Some very interesting models are on display there. The best of course, the first RE.
-
Nice set of engines on show 8)
I saw an unusual "Atkinson" engine  might need to dig around a bit :naughty:

Stan, it was great meeting you and getting to talk a while on Friday during setup. Your photos are great, and like happens every show I look at someones photos and wonder how I missed so much.
The Atkinson cycle engine was I think a Phil Duclos design in Home shop Machinist. The model in the photo was by Barney Drillen, another Mainer.
I was impressed at this years show. The person running it, Sarah Rooker did a great job in promoting it and the place was very busy. The last year I went it was kind of like a morgue. I will plan to go back next year.
I managed to find a couple good buys- at the Electronic Surplus store I got a nice shop crane I will use to move my 8" 6 jaw chuck- somehow that thing has gained weight and I have a hard time mounting it now. I also found a nice 4" Buck 6 jaw for $100, it has no back plate, but has the screws for the adjustment mounting. I also found a mill centering microscope for just $5. I have not had time to examine it yet, but if its Ok that was a great deal.

Great job Stan...thanks for sharing.
I'll upload my pictures and videos when I'm done with my homework.
Uggg....Homework :disappointed:

That's the one ;D
Thanks for the details, now I just have to find someone who has Home Shop Machinist this side of the pond so I can borrow the mags :noidea:
