Hi everybody,
Now i have made a 6 in line and a V12 solenoid engines, using the same basic devices (solenoids, micro-switches, gears, etc...), i'm working on a W18 version, which is a kind of V12, with a central 6 solenoid line added on the top middle of the engine.
No third camshaft, cause it would have been difficult to place it in a clean way. As the frame is a little longer, compared to the V12, 3 cams are added on each camshaft to control the third solenoid line.
Tech solutions are very close to the V12 version. Same speed controler, same crankshaft.
The only difference is the solenoids used are made for 12 VDC supply instead of 6VDC, to limit current flow. My cheap chinese DC power supply cannot start a locomotive...
First parts are made. There's a lot of machining work left. I can show 3D screen captures. Hope i finish and start my new toy this month.

hello Hagar,
Sure did enjoy watching the others go together and them in operation, so looking forward to this build.
Have a great day,

Holy Moly!! What an interesting piece of work. WoW! I can't wait to see this project when its finished, Not to mention in its progression to same. Just WoW1

Very interesting builds!
Have you considered a aircraft style radial?

Have you considered a aircraft style radial?
Yes, sir ! ^-^
I also started a 3D design based on a double star pattern. It allows to use one thick plate, star shaped, as a frame holding solenoids on each side.
A radial engine, in itself, is a big thing and a standard solenoid requires lengh. Lengh on top, on the bottom and on each side of the engine. In fact, a large engine for a low power (solenoid, not gas). So, i changed the solenoid i'm used to power my toys with for a smaller one so that the future star remains in the tiny engine family.
Work in progress...
Sure i show you the W18 growing up on the coming weeks. I pray for Chance Lady to help me, just a little. :NotWorthy:

Pretty cool!
How did you manufacture some of those brackets? Looks tricky. Were they water jet cut & then bead blasted?

Thank you.
Everything is machined on my small CNC router that weights about 70Kg. Light, but strong enough to "eat" POM plastic, FRP sheets, aluminum, brass and even S235 steel.
And cylindrical parts are out of my lathe (not CNC).

Very cool project. Will be following along also.

Briliant, now we all know why electric motors go round and round, not up and down, look at all that work for not much power, I love it.

Where do you get your solenoids?
