I started making this a long time ago but haven't posted pics as I was unable to complete one of the arms. I recently acquired a Drill Mill so finished it off. I don't actually think these types of jigs are ever really finished as there are always bits that can be added to improve or adapt the way you use them. Certainly I have a few more slots/holes/Vees to make in the base! ;D But for now it will do and I've actually used it several times already. It's about 75mm square and 24mm deep, loosely based on Guy Lautard's in his bedtime reader.
I was lucky with the 8mm post, I rescued some SS fittings from the skip and they had 70mm M8 studs with a cup point one end and a 4mm hex socket the other - very handy!

I like it too!! Will need to scrounge up some plans for one. I am assuming that the main part and arms are made of steel but not hardened if you are planning on adding yet more features to it.

Yes, just plain mild steel. Lots of plans out there of all different types. The trick is to guess which one is most likely to be of use to you!

Nice job Arbalest, I am sure you will find other uses for it also. My finger plate has a soft tip on the jack screw to keep from marring the plate. It was a copper rivet fitted into the tip.

About 50 years ago, the late Commander W T Barker wrote it up in ME. Since then GHT copied it and acknowledged the source- in Model Engineers Workshop Manual.
Hemingway has a kit for it.

Nice! Liked your old Burnerd scroll chuck-got one with a 1" holder which swops with my various toolings based on 1". See also remark about the ex- Super Adept ones elsewhere.
To add to things, I made up all the accessories from the Thomas VDH and his Universal Pillar tool.
I then 'borrowed' my wife's orthodontic tools :naughty:

I was wondering about the use of the center drill. How do you line up the bushing?

You will notice that the clamp plate has a "V" in it as well, this will line up automatically with the centre of the round bar.

That has to be the Rolls Royce of all finger plates - I have a couple I made here years ago but they are very crude by comparison. :ThumbsUp:
