got a slight attachment to Cambridge, after coming back from WW1 Grandpa went to Cambridge instead of home to Dunedin, stayed a couple of years, while there Dad was born, soon after that they moved back to Dunedin. Don't know what the climate is like now, but back then Grandpa reckoned it was the coldest place he'd ever lived. Hope the global warming is helping. Welcome aboard. Ian Clark

Hi everyone and thanks for the welcome. I must confess ole Ramon sent me to this site, reckons it's pretty awesome. Have to say I agree with him!! So just a little bit of history about myself. I am married with 4 kids, grew up in Auckland city ( West Auckland) moved down to Cambridge in 1996 to a much improved lifestyle, (cooler climate but not too bad). Then we moved again to just out of Cambridge town at the base of maungatautari mountain to a 2 acre lifestyle block, so now we are living the dream!! I grew up the oldest son of an avid aero-modeller so I inherited the aero-modelling gene in overload form, LOL currently I have built 64 powered aircraft ranging in size from the little C/line trainer called the bouncer to a 76" span PBY 5A Catalina also c/line. Got started collecting engines and then through a couple of friends got into repairing some old engines on a mates myford lathe. I pursed engineering at highschool and actually managed to come top of the school in 5Th form engineering. Went on to train as a mechanic and a few years ago stumbled onto Ron Chernics website on model engineering. Well that was the catalyst for me going out and buying some machine tools and set up a machine shop at home. From there i think my wife would say it was all downhill, ha ha ha. So i will add a few photos of models and engines I have built over the next little while and also update this thread as well with progress on the V12 build.
Cheers everyone and again thanks for the good reception
