After having introduced myself and started a build log about my first steam engine, I thought to introduce also my cave where I spend almost all of my spare time.
I have made my workshop into the basement of our house, where I have this room, about 3 x 7 metres of dry and heated space. The tables and cabinets are the same type used in kitchens, providing lots of room for smaller tools & accessories for power tools.
The main machines are a German Wabeco 3000 lathe, a very sturdy and accurate machine, and an Optimum BF20 vario mill, also a nice piece of machinery. On the other side of the room is a CNC controlled router EAS 440, used to cut parts of plastics, wood and plywood for my models.
On the attached photos you can see also some of my models, like a wooden ketch Clara May in scale 1/48, Bugatti 35 in scale 1/6 , and a French cutter Le Cerf scale 1/48 under construction.

That's a nice workshop, and so clean! I must get around to tidy my own.

Wow! Moxis, your shop looks like an operating room compared to mine! It's beautiful, and so clean!
Love your ship models too. Seems that several of us on this forum have done some ship modeling in the past. Must be some connection - similar skills or interest or something. That's actually what got me into the model engineering. I didn't like the cannons that came with one of the kits I had, so I decided to make my own. I ended up getting a little Taig lathe and turning several dozen cannons out of brass. This turned out very nicely and I quite enjoyed working with the metal. That started me down the dark path here... :)
Thanks for the tour of your shop!

Great looking shop. Looks quite comfortable.
Is the Bugatti 35 scratch-built or a kit? If a kit, where did you get it?

A wonderful place   :wine1:

Thank you all for your kind words and interest to my workshop!
# Kim, I too have tried to turn cannons for my ship models. I needed 18 pcs for my Le Cerf, and the problem is that they all had to be identical. I never succeeded to fabricate exactly identical cannons, so I had to buy them. Metal turning is very nice work, and I hope I have better luck with my steam engine project.
# zeeprogrammer, The Bugatti project is completely scratch built. I have made it based on some drawings found in Internet, and about 500 photos which I got from a nice French gentleman who has restored the real one. It is made in the scale of 1/6, so the length of the model is almost 1 metre. Everything is self made including the chassis, engine, suspension, wheels, tires, cockpit instruments, body panels, etc. Materials used are brass, aluminium, plastics, polyurethane resin, etc. The only bought parts are small nuts and bolts, electric motors and gears. My intention was to make it radio controlled, so the steering is fully functional and the engine includes an electric gearmotor. And the rear differential is also working. However for some reason I never built radio control inside it, so it is nowadays a static model only. Attached please find a few photos of it.

superb shop, cosy too ! and great models, on the Bugatti the attention to detail is amazing and the Cerf (from the Boudriot book I would bet) certainly will reach this quality.
