Title: ford model A progress
Post by: the engineer on December 30, 2018, 08:29:31 AM
slow progress  but better than none  had to scale full size specs down to one fifth to get the dimentions that  will work with the castings
tried contacting the makers of the castings  but nothing forthcoming  been trying for over a year now so i decided to strike out  and see what i could do scaling down the full size parts
and here is the start need to re do the camshaft as the lobes are not  exactly in the right spots but i know how to correct the next effort
once i am happy with the crank hopefully  liners and pistons next

I'll be following this build.  That is a nice looking casting set.

Great size too...not huge but not so small as to be tedious either!!  Watching along as well.

Fine set of castings and some fine looking parts. I have wanted to make a model A engine in 1/4 scale for many years. You are living my dream.

this trial retirement  is going to be hard to let go and go back to work
any way got some more done on the little ford crank centre main and cam gears sorted   i think i have enough material for the valves and guides so in the next few days i might have more to show
broke a four mm tap in the cam  but have since been able to remove it so all good again
