Title: A simple filing aid
Post by: peatoluser on April 24, 2015, 04:19:01 PM
Sometimes I find it awkward trying to hold parts in the vice, especially when using filing buttons.
So I just cobbled up this . I've probably seen this somewhere else before but can't remember where

drill some cross holes in a piece of bar, hacksaw a segment out, and file a vee on the middle hole,

Tap out one half and there you have it

quite easy to set up any way you want. saves trying to stand side on to the bench etc, although those with swivelling bench vices will wonder what all the fuss is about!

thanks for looking

Great tip Peter,  filed away for future use

Are the external screws for the vice jaws your own mod?

Yes Jon, the are my own modification.
I use the vice a lot and so have a couple of different sets of jaws.
much easier to change with the screws on the outside.
