I slipped some of the bits of my Forest inspired flame licker together and gave the flywheel a flick and almost thought I had discovered perpetual motion.

At least if the engine does not work by giving the flywheel a good flick and keeping the video short I can make it look like a runner

You're probably nearer than most of the people who claim to have discovered it :)

Some of the ceramic bearing technology out there is pretty amazing...

Wow, that's impressive!!

Looking great Jason, that's impressive :)
I like those curved spoke flywheels on ebay and think they are well worth the money.
-
Wow - what kind of bearings are those? :o
-
Just Chinese bearings, one of our model engineering tool suppliers here was previously in the bearing business so knows his balls. Just unshielded 686 bearings straight off the shelf, not been flushed out or had any lubrication added.

Pete, the flywheel looks better now as I have reduced the diameter of the hub and fettled the spokes to suit.

Yea definately looks the part :)

Now do that with the piston connected. :-)

This flywheel casting is pretty well balanced !
If you fixe the little unbalance visible at the end (due to the crank ?), you will gain some more running time...
