Coming up on August 9-12 there is a steam pageant down in the Finger Lakes region in western NY state that is a lot of fun - they have a building with models on display (running on compressed air), plus LOTS of traction engines and tractors running around, along with sawmill/shingle mill, plowing, construction equipment playing in the dirt piles out back. Great show. If you are near western NY state, come on out. I'll be there, probably either Thursday or Friday - let me know if you can make it up and we can meet up.

Went to the show today, perfect weather, LOTS of traction engines and tractors running around, watched he sawmill, threshing/bailing machines, they even had a rock crusher going, all driven from traction engines. They have two Corliss stationary engines, both running. Also a bunch of models all running in the model building. Great show!

Lots more pictures in this album:

One of particular note is a full size version of a gearless right angle drive for a line shaft system, I think it was Brian (or someone else??) who built a model one for his IC engine. This one has a glass port to see the innards, and you can turn the pulleys on the outside to watch it go. Very clever.

Nice pictures, Chris. Yes, it was me that built the funky 90 degree elbow mechanism.---Brian

It was great to watch the thresher and bailers in action, elegant, clever, and sure to drive the modern Safety agencies nuts! The traction engines looked to be tricky to get in proper positions for the belts to run well, but once set they provided more than ample power for the sawmill and that rock crusher.
