Looks like a great project, will be following along on it!

Looks like a fun project!
What are you thinking of using for the tires? That would stump me!
Kim
-
Actually I don't know that yet. Proceeding one part at the time.
-
At Cabin Fever Cliff Romich displayed a model of a Lanz Bulldog that was a kit ordered from Europe. The wheels on his model didn't have tires.
I assume that yours is also hot tube ignition.

Interesting project I will be following along. Maybe this will help making the tires...http://jrhscalecars.com/Molding%20Large%20Scale%20Model%20Tires%20Rev2.pdf

Nice looking array of parts.

An interesting model :) Tyres are available in various sizes. Are you intending to go hot bulb? Someone managed a version using an automotive diesel glowplug.

:Mad:Nice work will follow this thread for sure. One question about the gear. The teeth look not right to me, have you used the number 7 cutter for this gear?
As far as i know the 7 cutter is for large number of teeth. A ten tooth gear should be made with the number 1 cutter
Michael
P.s. look at your cutter it says 55-134 tooth!

Hello Tapsa,
That stack is going to look really nice after a polish job. I am curious, are you doing the taper using the drill motor?
Have a great day,
Thomas

Hello Thomas,
if I understood your question right, I'm not doing that.
-
So what were you using the drill for? :headscratch:
Mike

Hi, I used the drill to make it easier to turn the cone.
Tapsa

Hello all.
Today I made a few small parts. There is a problem with the motor body, because I have not yet received the material I have ordered.

Looking good :praise2: :praise2: Have you managed to find a source of tyres for this?
-
Hi, no I haven't yet, actually I wonder if somebody could give me a hint.
Tapsa
-
RCM in Luxembourg were offering some interesting tyres but they no longer seem to be available:
https://www.rcm-machines.com/en/model-tyre
I have ordered a pair of 'Crawler' tyres to see what they look like:
https://www.conrad.ch/de/p/absima-1-10-crawler-komplettraeder-mud-terrain-2-st-1997886.html
But I don't think they will look right even though my tractor is freelance rather than scale.
The DIY supermarkets seem to offer 280mm wheel/tyre sets but again the profile is not suitable.
-
I seem to remember a member (either here or at HMEM) that could not find useable tires for his model, and did as part of the build make moulds, tires etc. - maybe somebody remembers who :old:
-
After learning at lot about 3d printing in last weeks, it could be a nice solution to print them from TPU.
Of course a 3d printer or a good friend, owning one, is necessary.
The advantage , it can be made after an own special design for the Lanz.
-
Hello everyone.
Had time to make some tiny parts today.
On Friday there was Speedway Finnish Championship League competition in my home town.
The team which I am engaged as a mechanican, won the race superiory.

Hi,
thanks. I also wanted to see how the parts go together.

Tapsa:
The first picture in Post #63 shows layout lines being engraved on brass. The equipment looks like something I should recognize, what equipment do you use to do the engraving?
Don
-
Hi Don,
I have in my firm the Gravograph IS400 engraiving machine and I made the lines by it.
Tapsa
-
It looks very similar to the New Hermes engraver that I picked up as industrial salvage about 20 years ago.
Don
-
I see. Hoping to get to my workshop soon.

Hi, it's been a while from the previous update. Busy times, but I have got some small parts done and the build is proceeding. Sorry I canīt tell you more detailed how the work is going on. However, here some photos of the build.

Hi all, just when I thought to spend time in building the Lanz tractor, I got sick. Been in bed with bad flue.
Anyway, wish you all Happy New Year,

You have made some nice new parts since your last update
I like the idea about printing a paper version of the gear with centre lines etc. to ensure that you have turned the correct amount of turns on the dividing head

Nice progress   Terry

Hello, have had many work projects at the same time and had time to do only some small parts. So that's why I had to take a break with Lanz. I will update some photos shortly.

Hi Tapsa,
seen your paper pattern for orientation during gear milling first time now.
Very good idea, I have to file that away for later own gear milling trials.

Has anyone heard from Tapsa?
I wonder how this project came out??
