Title: A few words about Marcello
Post by: mzt on July 20, 2012, 10:54:45 AM
I see I can recognize most of the names on the member list so, instead of showing my machines and builds once more,  I will take the occasion to say a few words about my ?mood? into machining and posting.
I have no formal background into machining. It all came when I bought a Dremel and column to drill holes into PCBs (had done that with a hand drill for some thirty years):  while getting out from
the hardware store, I spotted a nice KT70 X-Y table on a shelf: the right size for my brand new column.
Got that one, too.
Then upgraded it a bit at a time, I cannot recall having done a single PCB since, to the current homeshop.

I had started logging my builds long before joining any forum or making any of my works available to others: logs were originally made for me to remember
how I built it, or did some tricky operation (and what were the results). I wouldn?t recall in a short while, unless I wrote it down.
Though I?ve only five or six builds of experience, I rarely ask questions about how should I do this or that: rather make the part purposely to have a try
into some technique I?ve seen or read about. Sometimes, it happens to be the most correct one for the job at hand.

Joining the first forum, widened the scope of my logs: they may get to be useful to others with less experience than me, building that same engine.
How? They are the way I made it, and what worked or didn?t work for me, with the tools and experience I had at the moment. That?s one way, my way: a starting point.
Other ways, tools and experiences are for You to add.  Do take the occasion of showing how You did that same part into any of my threads: I am not jealous of them.

And don?t be keen when it comes to banging my head when I make mistakes: I?m not easily offended.
Got some warped sense of humor, and an innate ability (a curse I?d say) into saying unwillingly offensive statements, particularly when I?m expressing myself in English.
That?s easily solved during face to face conversations: people usually apologize after punching me.
Writings are different. Please, do Your best to get them the right way, when it will happen.

About my old and new project logs:

- the Bernays are too close to completion to be worth duplicating once more the thread (which was started and kept updated on CSEE, too) here, too.
Still they're getting out nice, I don't know what to do with them.
- Elmer's #33 is on HMEM only, will post a copy here too.
- Elmer's #34 never got to the first post, that'll be a 'brand new' thread here.
- E.T. Westbury SideWheeler will reach the status of 'project worth being completed' the day I will cut the frames. Got to the point of having them successfully scribed, finally! (I think)
- The Potty Simpson is at very early stages on MadModder, will make a copy here. That's gonna be as much fun as the Bernays were, for me.

Other projects are still at the stage of label on a box, maybe some chunks of metal in them.
Keep Your clubs at hand,  ;)

Marcello
