Title: Cross slide

Flaking still showing....the rest is easy....

The crosslide looks to be a great catch. I have to admit my lathe for small work is a Enco 12X36 grear head lathe. :lolb:

:lolb: my 12x39 IS my big lathe!!! My Samantha Bell is my little lathe 9 x 39.. and my Levin is for tiny work that needs the spindle speed...5000 rpm+

Piss poor packaging. damaged the good handle. The lead screws seem to be good though. Always fries my butt when I hear the clown say It was poorly handled...the carrier will pay .....doesn't pay for my time to repair it all for something that was entirely preventable. :hammerbash:

Its got no wear on it at all.. I think it spent a lot of time on the bench. It'll clean up, and I'll make a pair of handles for it....

Just keep telling yourself how much you saved over the Levin pricing and that should ease the pain.

the screw that goes through them is 4-40. It fits into a dimple in the leadscrew and pins it to the shaft. Im dating the slide to turn of the century....It's pretty old...but it's like perfect...NO wear, just a bit of staining, and it's dry as the Sahara...and has varnish on the working surfaces...so a tear down and cleaning should be all I need.. Other than the handles.....

Here's what's left....

I'm thinking some 303 as it will turn decent...but 12L14 would be a good choice as well....

I think maybe if I have some 303 SS I'll just go with that......leave it kinda brushed surface...not super polished...except for the handle itself.
