Thanks for saying hello guys ;D and thanks Dave for the Chocs :embarassed:
We had a few engines at the show. Jason should have won the prize for having the biggest one and using less air to run it than a Stuart beam. There were a lot of engineering jokes made about the working governor ::)

Along the table were more stationary engines.

You're very welcome to the choccys, and thank you for the guided tour of the Orphans and taking the box of spanners off my hands .. :cartwheel: thus liberating some 2 cu. ft. of my shop ..
Some really nice engines there, you don't have a pic. of the small green triple next door to you? Missed some of the conversation. Is it really a smaller version of yours? I found the layout a bit confusing, I thought their table was part of the MEM display initially.
Shame my wretched knees started giving up ... one of the benefits of being a very young fossil I suppose.

 I sat there all day next to that little green triple and failed to photograph it sorry Dave

This is just the Stationary Engine table ;D
And then I found a mobile Beam engine :embarassed:

The SMEE boys and Girls  has a few interesting engines

And of course a pre-view of what that set of castings are going to turn in to 8)
Jo
P.S. I am still missing casting sets for two of the Anzani engines :hellno:

Good to see you took some photos Jo as I did not take many this year.
Dave, I did not get one of the little green triple either but did have a chat with the builder. He runs the boiler at 140psi and has measured the pressure drop from the three cylinder chests as well as having a vacuum gauge on the condenser (though he needs a finer reading one) It was intended for a boat but despite having the facility to put HP steam into all cylinders to start it there is the odd occasion when it won't start so he does not want to get it stranded in the middle of a boating pond. We both agreed that Jo should make a condenser for at least one of her Triples.
Also after lots of persuasion and arm twisting Jo got me to help her out with chocky consumption, she muttered something about her figure and taking up space that was better filled with :wine1:
I did not purchase any castings in the traditional sense but bought quite a bit of metal that I think may contain several unique castings ;)
EDIT, Tell I Lie I took photos at a previous show

I attended both days of the show and showed some of my engines. I always enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the Guildford show and this year was no exception even though it was a smaller event than in previous years.
It was nice to meet everyone and put faces to some of the names on this forum. But it was rather sad to see the ever reducing numbers on the Internal Combustion Engine Builders Group.
I did not buy any castings, but was beaten to a very nice machine vice by guess who? Jo of course. It seems you need to get there very early in the day to beat Jo to the best goodies.

In the end the whole family came along. It was a grand day out :-) kids loved the drive your own boats and we did 4 or 5 laps behind various locos.
Thanks to Jo for running a couple of engines for the boy, sorry I couldn't stay for a chat as I was dragged away by the tiny blond whirlwind :)
-
Wow, lots of really interesting models there, good stuff, and the photos are really good too , Wish we could manage that here in Norwich.....Are there any videos of the engines running.....

:embarassed: Its only a boring little sub vice. And Eric was the one who had all the real goodies :slap:
Jo
Edit Here you go Mike they are not much dearer than I paid for this one: http://www.arceurotrade.co.uk/Catalogue/Workholding/Machine-Vices/Precision-Tool-Vices-Type-1

Jo, Thanks for the Arc link.
How do mere mortals stand a chance when Jo and Eric are out searching for all the good stuff

Did I mention I picked up a full set (plug, second and taper) of a good make of HSS 14BA taps for £9 at 3:30 on the Sunday afternoon. So there was lots of bargains there all weekend if you went looking ;)

Jo,
Thanks for all the photos. I especially liked the Vega 30. Looked it up, Modelenginenews gave a very good bio on that engine.

Is the title for this thread wrong, or is this last years show?

I'm still knackered from the show

Thanks for all the great pictures! It appears that you had a very nice show with lots of beautiful models to check out.

Thanks for the pictures, I couldnt make it this year :'(

Hi Jo, Very nice to be able to meet you and have a chat at the show, and to take a look at the impressive Orphans and associated bits in real life.
Thanks for putting the comprehensive selection of photos of the many engines on display onto the forum. There's never time to do each of them justice in the few hours at the show, and it's a good chance to be reminded, and take another look. Dave

Thanks for all the pictures. Its always nice to see the UK shows and some very nice models as well. I hope it was cooler there than it is here in the southeastern US this weekend.
