Title: A 'somewhat minor' disaster. Crud.
Post by: zeeprogrammer on May 08, 2020, 11:18:57 PM
My usual response to 'minor' disasters is "crud".
This one rated a "crap"...in addition to "rats".

I was moving a lab bench and forgot about my model of an Albatross DVa was sitting on top.

It fell off.

Very disheartening. The Albatross is one of my favorite airplanes.
This was the third attempt before I got it completed.

At this point I tend to look for the silver lining.

Family says 'fix it' but it would never be the same.
The engine seems intact so I may give it to a grandchild in hopes it stirs a desire to learn history and/or modeling.

I'm bummed. Need to find that silver lining.

I'll find it.

Crap.

Sorry about your minor disaster, Zee :(
I can see how that rated at least a 'Crud' and a 'Rats', if not two.  :'(
You have my heart-felt sympathy,
Kim

Oh no!  :(    Very sorry to see it in pieces.  I've got a similar model hanging from the cieling in the shop, every once in a while it gets a minor knock while moving long bar stock, fortunately the worst so far was knocking off the engine cover.  I'd join the chorus of try and fix it.

Fix it zee. It
will still be a good model and with personal touches.

I admire your linguistic restraint.

Round here the air would have been a more vivid shade of blue....

Yesterday (Monday) I took a look at the various pieces and realized something was missing.
Apparently a wing strut assembly had taken a long bounce into the waste basket.
Do you know what day last Sunday was?  :cussing:

Round here the air would have been a more vivid shade of blue....

I went for prussian blue. (You know, the color you mixed up as an experiment in a chemistry kit you got as a kid?)

I don't feel as saddened as one might expect.
For one thing, it was too much a result of my own stupidity error. (Moving the workbench without removing its contents.)
For another, I've always held a secret desire to build another and make it better.
