Another show :naughty: .. I had the fortune to be escorted by two lovely  fellas for most of the day and one even took me home :whoohoo: but sadly I did not find any casting sets at the show so I did not need to make the most of their muscles  There was only one engine that was irresistible and plans are a foot :mischief:.
Had a nice chat with Mike Chrisp the Ex Editor of the Model Engineer Magazine and learnt a lot about the terms and conditions :hellno: they place of having articles published in the Mag today.
There were a few engines, but it was only a few... So these were them. This time I have tried to photograph not only the engine but where they had a description the cards as well.

Thank for taking the time to post the photos Jo, at least it saved me having to take many. The two of us obviously did a could job as you came out with almost as much in your purse as you arrived with, though I can't say what happened after we went our separate ways.
Now the real question is did you get back home with a piece (or two) of heaven?

Hey gal, hope you know I was having a little Friday after work fun on my last post. Great photos. I loved the Marcher. Seems you had fun and not many moths escaped the purse . Enjoy the night

Thank you for taking and sharing the photos, Jo! A couple of nice James Coombes engines there; I just acquired a casting set for that engine :pinkelephant:

Not all of us can go to these shows but the least I can do is take a couple of snaps so that you can appreciate what was there. Sadly like all shows the Internet is taking over so the traders were thin on the ground. I would say the Midlands show is probably the best at the moment.
Having said that it looks like we (MEM) will be invited to have a stand at the GMES rally this year :pinkelephant:

Yes 8) Isn't it exciting :cartwheel:.

Thanks Jo for the extra shots of that V8 BRM - going to to have to break out 'The saga of British Racing Motors' to check the cam cover script as it looks upside down - surely not?
Simon.
-
Thanks for the pictures,Jo.
-
I think they only had one pattern for the rocker covers so its only upside down if viewed from the offside :-\

You're right about the rocker covers! How do you think the script was produced in the model?
Simon.

If I remember correctly he made special tooling that went on to a long armed 3d pantograph, hence the quorn tool grinder was developed. I think he was in a position to borrow the full size castings, but please don't quote me on that ian c

I was told something similar today, he had a blown engine to take measurements from and it was al manually cut with specially shaped 1/16" cutters.

Thanks for putting the pictures up Jo.
Its always enjoyable to be able to see some of the other shows.

Thanks for all the pictures Jo. Even if not much trading going on it still looks like it was a nice day to enjoy some fine modeling.

Thanks,Jo.
Beautiful work but it appears that there is a shortage of metal polish in the UK. :lolb:
-
Thanks Jo for all the photos. I really enjoyed the first two photos with the turbo jet model (the one with the nose dome). I really should make an effort and at least come and see one of the shows in the UK.

Thank you Jo for a great set. (of pictures ) Liked the firefly parts in the frame as it gives an idea of how much work can be in a small engine

That's a ton of pictures, Jo. Thanks for taking the time and effort to share them.

Hi Tom, have you checked out the TSME? https://sites.google.com/site/tsmeweb/home? I will be attending the May meeting. My father was a member in the 1970's-80's , I attended some meetings with him in those days. Now it is my turn, as a hobby machinist :-) Great group of people.

Jo those were some wonderful pictures. Made me wish I could of been there.
I noticed in some of the picture the engines were cabled do they have problems with engines walking off (getting stolen)?
Man there were a lot of nice looking engines there. Thanks again for going through the effort of taking and getting them posted appreciated here!
-
Pleased you found them interesting .
Doc: The alarm system is an insurance requirement and yes engines which were not wired up have been known to go missing :'(
Jo
-
Thanks for posting the pics, Jo.
In the first two photos one of the engines has a lot of blue protrusions that appear to be pressure ports for testing instrumentation. Is that right?

Thanks Jo
Nice to see the BRM

Nice to see a photo of the flame gulper, I made one from a rather indistinct drawing in an old ME magazine, mine works OK, but does not look as good as mine is mainly steel, and cast iron, and has been run quite a bit, and shows the effect of heating(over heating).

I'm late on parade again Jo ::) I must have missed this first time round.
Yes indeed, a lovely set of pics of some varied and interesting engines. The little wall engine - I guess that was on the SMEE stand - triggered a distant memory. I was attracted to one on the Taunton MES stand many years ago when exhibiting at Kew. I still have the details kindly sent by a Norman Phelps - just checked, it was 1992 :o now where has that time gone.
