Hi guys,
i build this engine many years ago. When i worked in a Metall working Company during study i was allowed to use the machines.
It took the lunch breaks from 19992 till 1997 to build the engine (plus some saturdays).
The engine rested some years because it didnīt start anymore.
Over the hollidays i inspected it and found the valves to close adjusted so they didnīt fully close.
After adjusting the Valve lash it started right on.

Very nice and smooth runner  - was this your first engine ?
If so, rather a ambitious start.

It was the first ic Project. This was my first metallworking Project:
A steam engine:

What a delightful engine Michael. That's great that you were able to bring it back to life after all these years so it can be enjoyed again.

That is a fine looking engine. Did you make it from solid?
The Hemingway kit has a casting that hides the valve mechanism, yours is much more interesting to watch.

I'm glad it was nothing serious  An excellent runner :praise2:
Your first steam engine wasn't a trivial project either although technicaly a 'wobbler' :)

Hi,
since the seal was running again i was motivated to put some work in it. Because of poor compression i decided to relap the Pistons and make new Pistons. This time with two compression rings.
It starts now realy nice (the shop has no heat and ist 0 Degree now).
After that a thought off an old chasis whre the Motor was build in years ago.
Put it back in again and ordered some toys from China. That is a waterpump and a smal Radiator.
Together they were around 10 euro.
The pump ist working realxy nice but is alittle affected by the ignition. In some Position it donīt want to run with the engine running.
The electric starter is also a nice feature.
here are some Videos with the engine in the chasis. Have to make it nice, it is just a quick and dirty set up.

Hello Michael,
Very nice looking engine and it sounds really good.
Have a great day,

LOL I like the sound of that one....it has a certain " Don't (#$**(@#* with me" sound that I really like.....just at idle!

Hi guys,
i thought i could put some love into the seal and rework the distributor/waterpump.
I had some helical gears on the shelf that fitted the size of the engine.
Here is the gear Setup. Dizzy and waterpump will be next.
The Dizzy will get an hall pickup.

Hi guys,
hope you all had a nice Christmas.
I was able to do some work on the Seal Project. Got it running again with Waterpump, new Dizzy and new rings.
Now it runs like it should. Easy starting and solid idle.
I also changed the carb. The old one showed some strange behavior, think it was to bad worn out.
Here is a Video from today morning 3°C in the shop.

Hi Michael,
a very smooth runner.
-
Nice to see and hear it run so well :praise2: Smooth idle and great pick-up when you touch the throttle
Was it mostly one or more of the updates you made, that made the difference ?
Best wishes
