Title: Swan lives!
Post by: Quadra on November 28, 2018, 07:23:08 PM

Finished the Swan from Maurys stable earlier this month and got it to run reasonably well. A few problems along the way were a sticking exhaust valve, the hot tube not getting hot enough and getting the fuel mix right. The exhaust valve problem was solved by boring out the port and making and fitting a sleeve to fit with a narrower valve seat. I intended this to be a press fit but in the end used JB Weld. It seems to be holding up OK.
I used a commercial burner for the hot tube but it didn't get hot enough, so with advice from a fellow MEM member a burner was made along with a needle valve. Problem solved. Fuel mixture was just trial and error.

I can't see the video by clicking in the post.

But if I right click and copy the url I can then paste that and watch?

Certainly runs very nicely and I like the subtle colour choice ;)

John, Excellent work! Nice smooth runner. It's always nice to see another one of my kits completed. There are a bunch of them I wish folks would share.

 Hi Folks,

Thanks for the kind words.

Sorry about the post not linking to utube, this was my first post to MEM with utube, in the past I had a friend do it for me. A bit of a learning curve.
I hope now it is corrected. Fingers crossed.

Congratulations on a very successful build.

I like the way that runs. It pretty much matches the videos that show real oilfield engines running and doing their jobs.

thank you for posting,

ShopShoe

The finish on your engine and the way it runs so well is inspiring.
I would enjoy a much longer video.
