I'm crossing my fingers to be a beta tester. I made it to round two!

Compared to my current Novakon mill, the Vulcan has a considerably smaller work envelope. But it wins in having servos vs. stepper, 10K vs. 4K max rpm, BT30 vs. R8, power vs. manual drawbar, 5 vs. 2 HP.
Waiting to see price with stand, enclosure, and coolant.

Made it to round three! Now I have a 25 minute phone call scheduled with them.

Any updates PJ?

Yes...I made the cut to get a machine. Initially I was really excited but as I looked at the costs to get the machine tooled up the price is just too high. The ultimate number is getting into the territory of a used Haas or similar. I toyed with selling my Aciera F2 to help fund it but I really don't want to get rid of it. I may regret this going forward but I just couldn't justify it at this point. I am looking forward to see the machine and hear others experience.

Can you lay out the cost estimates you came up with?

Thanks for letting us all know as much as you are allowed about Vulcan and the way they work.
Sounds like Vulcan Machine Co are trying to groom people into being the first paying customers, rather than genuine Beta testers.
But I could be wrong

I really don't think they are trying to convert Beta testers to paying customers. I think they are making a good effort and will be a competitor to Tormach, it will take some time. Another thing for me is the travels are a bit small. Right now my main concentration is live steam locomotives.
