Title: Flat drive belts
Post by: elciego on February 07, 2016, 08:46:42 PM
Hi everybody,

I have built a double scale Elmer 33 mill engine and a generator of my own design and am having difficulty with obtaining a flat drive belt.  Found a few suppliers in the UK but either does not ship to Spain or the shipping costs are ridicules.  Any ideas where to get a belt or on what material to make one from?  Needs to be 540mm long x 12 –15mm wide and 1 – 1.5 mm thick.  Any advice greatly appreciated.
In the pictures I have made a temporary belt from insulation tape.

The build logs are here http://madmodder.net/index.php/topic,10299.0.html and http://madmodder.net/index.php/topic,11170.0.html

Cheers.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for the link. Just tried to order but 20 pound shipping on a 6 pound item is a bit steep.

Cheers.

Abraham,
If you don't mind making one, then take a look at this video.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for the link, will have to look around for some cloth tape and give it a try.

Managed to find some cloth harnessing tape and made a test belt,  it works well.  :) :whoohoo:

A short video of the engine and generator running.  Have to finish the base and strip it all down for painting.
