This picture was taken a few years ago when both engines were in steam for boiler inspections.

Incredible. If I was seeing them in person you probably couldn't get me away from them for a very long time. The next greatest thing to owning the full-size version.
Thank you for posting.

Hello Jonathan and thanks for your kind comments. Unfortunately the patterns for the Fowell-Box went with the model when I sold it some years ago and I have no idea what happened to them.
I still have most of the drawings but they were done the old fashioned way with paper & pencil.

Simply beautiful Brian. Must have been hard to part with but hope it found a good home :)

Hi Brian thanks for the information it's a shame you don't still have them as I've built 2 big scale engines and said I wasn't going to do anymore big ones but something like that fowell-box would be ideal.

I agree with all the previous posts......beautiful engines. I love Marshall rollers anyway so a treat to see. Thanks for the pictures. Terry

I've just found a picture of the casting patterns for the Fowell-Box. They were all home made from ply and MDF. The foundryman said that it was very rare for patterns to be painted the correct colours and his only critisism was that there could have been a bit more draft on the gears, but he managed to make an excellent job.
Had to do this as an attachment for some reason!

Further to the Fowell-Box engine,I've decided that my next model will be another Fowell-Box but in 1 1/2 to the foot scale, i.e. half the size of the one in the picture, mind you, I reckon there is about another 2 years to go on the Burrell Boydell but, you have to plan ahead!
I've already drawn up the plan for the hind wheels, to be cast in iron by the same foundry that did the previous castings, so need to start pattern making!

I'll put posts about the Fowell-Box on a new thread in future.
