Title: Stockport Vacuum Engine
Post by: michaelr on November 08, 2018, 07:18:25 PM
Some months ago I thought I would have a go and build a flame licker engine so I got a set of castings for Anthony Mounts Stockport design, the engine was straight forward to build with no problems, then the troubles started getting it to run, after many many months of losing the will to live, walking away in frustration, thinking of giving up, I finally hit the sweet spot and it runs.

The next job is a base and a little tidying up as it is just on a temporary mounting and the burner needs sorted.

Great looking and running little engine Michael. They can be difficult to get running but all the more satisfying once you do!!  Well done.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments on the Stockport, after all the up's and down's of trying to get the engine running I can now say when finally seeing it running, it was worth all the effort.

A belated well done for your Stockport engine.
I have a friend who bought one in a dismantled state from a dealer. He assembled the engine but couldn’t get it to run so he brought it over for me to have a go but we could only manage a few weak power strokes. I think the piston isn’t a good fit and I have doubts about whether the cylinder liner, water jacket and base are properly sealed. I would like to sort it out but I have plenty of my own projects to finish.
