Title: Swiss Files
Post by: Jo on June 15, 2019, 02:28:21 PM
It has recently come to my attention that Andrew Webster published on the 2mm Scale Association website a rather excellent article on needle files: http://www.2mm.org.uk/mag2000/files.htm which is well worth a read.

That was an interesting read. After buying cheapish (but not Chinese) files in the past I've settled on buying Vallorbe; dead sharp and you can feel them cut properly. I haven't tried the Portugese Tome Feteira files from Arc yet but will.

I tended to use the Vallorbe ones in the passed as one of the woodworking suppliers does them and they seemed to find their way onto the orders ;). Last couple I have got are Tome and I can't tell any difference. The one I really like that shifts metal at a high rate is their Lathe file only downside is they are not made in small sizes which would be nice for fine work.
