Hi, just a little update and at long last the plant is finished.
I have gone back to a meths burner and to bring her up to date made a condensate tank.

As you can see she is rather tight for space and has caused me no end of pain trying to fit everything into her.

Just the prop to make and a few bits on the RC installation and finally she should hit the water in the spring.

Frazer
What a beauty! Just perfect.
Love it.

Well somehow I missed the video earlier, but the internet at the college was screwed up this afternoon so maybe that's why. It is a sweet runner frazer...I can see that now...but I still admire the very nice installation you did in the hull :)

Frazer the whole setup looks a treat bud. The video was great, you have yourself a nice runner and I particularly like the hull very original for a small scale. I like.........

Beautifully done Frazier, the photos give me some good ideas for my hull fitting out when I get around to it. Do I see the start of a 4 blade prop? I am just making one for my boat for a change from tiny engine bits. I am doing a 3 blade though as the original prototype had 3 blades.

Beautiful model Frazier.
Any plans for a video of it on the water?

Lovely model Frazer, that'll look a real peach on the water.
I've begun the boiler rebuild for mine this morning - what a lovely bit of inspiration

Hi, many thanks for the kind replies it is appreciated
Hi Dave the boiler is a very basic pot type and the drawings are on the john-tom site.
Hi Karl, yep a little video for you're pleasure will be done but don't hold you're breath as it wont be until the spring..
Hi Robert, the prop is now together .I find my engines always seem to run better one way than the other so I tend to make the prop after I know the plant is running well.I have not forgotten about the pics and have been over to Wray castle but unfortunately the boat house has been closed and no sign of the boats so maybe this spring when the N Trust start to get busy again.
Hi Ramon, I don't think this simple build will hold a candle to you're Wide awake build .I have often fancied building the Wide awake but I know I wont be able to get her in and out of the water. I have built River Queen and now I have an idea for a self starting single I will finish my drawings for S.L Elizabeth and do a proper scale build as I did for Bat.
Thanks again and best wishes

Absolute beauty Frazer - family heirloom stuff that

Thanks Frazier, How did you fix the prop to the shaft? I have been thinking about this as I know the full sized boats usually have a tapered shaft with keyway and end nut but that would be difficult on our size shafts I am thinking. I too am making the prop to the direction of the best rotation of the engine. It runs on no load at 5 psi clockwise and 7 psi anticlockwise. I am assuming this is to do with the timing and valve openings, but I am happy enough with it as it will not be going too far astern.

Hi Robert, The prop is tapped 5BA and will simply be screwed on with a lock nut so it doesn't vanish into the lake. This boat maybe a lot smaller than youre build she is only 31inches from bow to stern and about a 7inch beam and to be honest has been a very difficult build and will admit Iv often thought about simply giving up on her.The engine is 5/16bore and 1/2 inch stroke double acting.I had started building her as a simple fill in build  . I prefer to do true scale builds and think this one has taken far to much effort for what she is a semi scale model. At least when I do my own drawings I can only curse myself.
best wishes
