Anyone going ???
Going Sunday myself. Just about traffic-free last year.
( Unless, of course, they've made diesels a capital offence by then ... ::) )
Dave
-
Hi Dave, I'm driving there from Redditch with three passengers on Friday 12th using lovely petrol at the rate of 25mpg.
Andy
-
.... using lovely petrol at the rate of 25mpg.
You need a 14 year old 2ltr diesel = 56mpg up-hill/down-dale, with bags of torque so you can bring your heavy castings home with the added ability to still burn off boy racers from 70 mph going up long hills (with the castings in the back) :mischief:
Sorry I'm grounded :( , I am not allowed to any shows for a few months :'(
Jo
-
Only 56 MPG ?? When I left you t'other Sunday, 174 miles, 3 hrs 22 mins. elapsed, 60.1 MPG. :D
I wonder what it would have been without all the damn speed limits? Don't think much, if any, of the M3 from Frimley to the M25 is not 50 ? And same for another 14+ mile stretch of the M1.
Thinking of swapping the XC Fozzy out for the petrol XT on Sept 1. Won't be 60 mpg then ... :o maybe 30
Delusions of grandeur  or 'cos I'm worth it' ??
Can't take it with me anyway ... :old:
Hope this grounding thing is soon over

I presume thats an allusion to your own car Jo. I can live with 25mpg by my Honda CRV, my annual mileage is low. You can carry lots of castings and 3mtr stock lengths of metal bars in it.
Andy :drinking-41:
-
I'll be there Sunday
Stew
-
I recon Andy's 25mpg is good going, I don't get that out of the Impreza and that is on V-power at an extra 10p or so a litre. ;)
Those that are going make sure you take your cameras :)

That's a monster car Andy, I could get lots of model engines and castings in that ;D.... My old 206SW Pug did a vast 2K miles last year and the way this year is going I can't see the mileage being high this year either. Keep thinking it should be replaced but really the engine has only just run in.
No GMES show, no Bristol Show.... I should be allowed out again for the Midlands show :-\

I will be going to Doncaster on the Saturday in my 4WD Skoda Yeti petrol 1.8 TSI, it cruises on the motorway at an average of 30mpg, but it goes like an Audi TT when you need it to. ;D
Phil
-
Hi Jo, not really a monster it takes up less space than my previous Mondeo Estate.
Phil - interesting to hear the mpg of your Petrol powered Skoda which is probably much younger than my eleven year old CRV with 110,000 recorded miles. I can get almost 30 to the gallon if I'm really careful. However, the accelleration of my CRV is sluggish :old:

Online tickets no longer on sale it seems >:(
Not going now.
Decline to queue up with the proletariat.
Dave
-
I went last year and paid at the door on the Saturday, I bet I didn't have to queue any longer than about 10 mins
-
I went on Sunday last year with a pre-paid online chitty and queued about 10 seconds.
That I can tolerate.
10 minutes I won't ...
No telling what you might catch in 10 minutes ...

I'm going up to the show on Saturday, please God stop me buying castings to build another big model!!
If anybody finds me buying big castings then shoot me, I'm only making things I can pick up now
Jonathan
-
I will be going on saturday with the Norwich people so will look out for other MEMbers !! I have not done much on my engine lately as have been busy in the allotment ,replacing a burnt exhaust valve in my Morris and clearing up my house and decorating, will be back in the WKSP soon.......

Just make sure you don't drive there in a Forklift then!

Someone found some castings to wind me up with
Jo

Does it say Gold or Sold on that casting
-
Its been named Rusty
Jo

Jo
Never mind Mr. Rusty .. What is it ??? :headscratch: Don't keep us in the dark.
Anyway, nowt amiss that a quick waft over in a shot-blaster wouldn't fix ...
I like his Power Strip. Offered several 8-gang 13A a few years ago but they were for vertical fitting. :( Nearly new too.
Dave
-
It is Rocking Horse do-dars = a Stuart 600. Last cast before WW2, never to be done again :disappointed: He also has the matching set of castings for the 800 :cussing:
That is a test equipment power rail supply. They come available at work each time we dispose of another piece of kit... ;)
Jo
P.S. He does not have a Sandhurst ::)
-
P.S. He does not have a Sandhurst ::)
Wossat then ? :headscratch:
Some sort of blaster cabinet?? Something else entirely different ???
Dave
-
It is the final of the big Stuart Gas engines 2" Bore 3" Stroke.
Jo
-
Does it say Gold or Sold on that casting
.
By the time Jo had spent considerable time fondling them instead of machining them either the gold plating or the iron oxide coating will have worn off and pristine surgical cleanliness metal will be left. :D ;D

Jo
Wow! Hefty brute ... :)
Why are the ends of the rocker shaft split pin not turned over ?? :headscratch:
Looks like one of my sort of 'disasters in waiting' ;D

Has he got a 400 Jo?
I got some castings the other day, going to name the model Scabby, can you guess why

Jo
Ah.... The mighty 600....
I own a partially built twin flywheel one that I picked up in the early 80's, really nice engine.
Allegedly modelled on a National Gas engine that drove the Stuart Turner works.
The Sandhurst was IMO grossly under flywheeled for it's bore and stroke, twin flywheels made them much tamer in running.
An old " buff " once told me that the Sandhurst had hidden complications and was designed for students at the Royal Military Academy? True? Any thoughts?
Kind regards, Graham.
-
Has he got a 400 Jo?
Nice one Jason!
Even the correct Hot tube chimney, so rare!
Kind regards, Graham.
-
I thought you would like that one Graham, none of those new fangled spark plugs there.
As you are about I will put a photo of the scabby casting on the castings thread, would be interested to know your thoughts on what caused it.
J
PS did you see that PM I sent last Sunday?

He has never expressed a desire for one: Like you he has a fetish for large model engines ::). It is me who is happy to do the little ones or to make them at their original scale.

Except the Otto ;)

Went to Doncaster yesterday..really good venue...lots of space ...no queueing to get in ..really short queues for food.. lots of 'our friends in the north' but no Michael Caine !! and some of the models, Plus the northern accent " A Demolition of a r/c controlled helicopter doing acrobats" !! Sorry that should be demonstration !! And a proud pride of Lions.....
-
I have an 1/6th scale Otto as well
