Graham, Jo,

How many castings make up the set and what are they.  Is there a complete set in the picture.

Thanks,

Colin

Graham, any idea what the part top right is meant to be from?

My guess it should go with the Bamford as it is missing its drive pulley (and the bore is about right).

Jo

Hi Jo.

I've just followed up on the sellers other items, the Bamford is an early 20's 1 1/2 HP engine with low tension ignition. I wouldn't think the pulley casting is for that.

Cheers Graham.

Hi Colin.

There's actually more than a full set, I noticed an extra inlet valve chest.

Those are later Buckley Foundry castings apart from the water base. You won't have any problems with the Iron at all.

Cheers Graham.

Colin, if you zoom into the photo with the name tag you can read the list of what was originally supplied and the next photo in the picture with the paperwork looks to be of the original line up.

Jo, my apologies.

In retrospect, I think you might be correct in your assumption. The Robinson is 1 1/2 " bore with a 1 1/4" cored hole. That pulley casting is quite close!!

Cheers Graham.

More now she has given the link to a greater bidding audience :LittleDevil:

While on the subject of future projects I cam across this 500page book with a lot of illustrations of steam engine details. Not sure if it has come up here before but a good reference for anyone wanting to add that period detail to an engine or find a complete one to base a model on.

Wow what a lovely book ...I want one of those ....Fabulous

Thanks for sharing this

Jason, Hopefully. Losing at present. Will be on way back from RAF Duxford when auction ends so need to do a bit of forward planning. I was hoping it would not go for too much of a silly amount.

Good Luck Colin,

All this talk of castings has resulted in Surus nesting  He has just imported another batch of boxes for storing his castings and no doubt next he will try to make out someone has been stealing them and be demanding more  ::)

Well my flight in a Tiger Moth went well. Bit cool. They struggled to get the DH engine to start up but managed in the end. The guy swinging the prop looked worn out by the time it started. The rein seat Spitfire that was doing passenger flights sounded good.

At £427.00....

A tad under £200.00 increase from the original price of £235.00 back in 1999.

I did not win. I went to £417
Keep on looking. Or waiting for Graham to dust off his master patterns

Good morning Jason.

Not as much as the previous one we tried. Just the two main castings would get us over £200.00 right off the bat.

I had a call from the foundry that's making me a batch of CHUK 2's, they're getting close to finishing. It will be interesting to see what their Iron is like.

The Robinson kit was one of the stolen plates but luckily I still have the masters.

Cheers Graham.
