Witte 15 HP model at 1/5th scale
« on: August 04, 2020, 02:28:50 PM »
This is a scale model of a Witte 15 HP hit-and-miss engine, the full size built in 1911.  It was built for a friend who ownes the full size.

The model was built from taking measurements of the full size engine, then scaling those measurements down and designing and building the resultant model.  No castings were used in the construction of this model with the exception of the flywheels.

Ignition is provided by an igniter as in the full size.  The model also has a functioning fuel pump and a functioning coolant system with a water pump to circulate the coolant.

The fuel is metered into the air intake in the same manner as the full size, though the governor does not function.

Thanks for the compliments and replies.  This one was a bear to get running right; nearly gave up on it.  I’ve kept it on the bench and start it and give it a run every few days and it seems to be running dependably.  Sure hope Joe has success with it.
