Nah, I'm a bit of a dinosaur, still on 4.085, but it serves me well.

Easy on a Mac, cmd-shift-3 takes a snap of the whole screen or cmd-shift-4 brings up crosshairs to select the area you want copied. Or you can use the included Grab application which adds features like timed snaps etc.

Thanks for running through the posting process slowly, as you might gather I can't read very fast.
I've done everything you've told me to do very slowly and deliberately, the menu you showed does not appear, but all the options that do I posted yesterday.     I would take a screen print to prove it, but of course I can't post it.
I'm afraid its getting to the point when desperation really isn't worth the effort, even posting on the tiny model engineering group on face book is one click easy peasy, so why all the angst on a larger forum like this?????

Right here we go again.
First option: Right click properties, left click and high light three lines of URL address, which turns blue, right click, blue disappears and no options appear at all, zilch, blank screen.

Dunno what to tell you from this point Spark, the above should get you there, when you get the highlighted (blue) URL a right click on it should bring up another menu with the copy option.

Have you tried a simple 'attachment' rather than inserting an image?

I would suggest changing your browser to Firefox, but that might open up a whole new can of worms.

The right click to get the menu has to be on the stuff you just highlighted.  Anywhere else and the highlighted text unhighlights .

You are right Lee - I missed that small, but important, point.

I think Tel's suggestion of an attachment may be the best option, you are obviously able to browse and find the files on your computer to be able to put them onto other sites so at least that part will work.

If you post a reply to this thread under the reply box it says +Attachments and other options. Click that and some options drop down you will see the browse button just use that like you do on ME and ask if you get stuck.

Sorry to be a pain, but if you read my original post the fact that I can't use the attachments and other options is the reason I started this post.     The site bombs after only a few seconds and says my file couldn't be saved.

OOOOOOOOOK - can you run us through exactly what you are doing again, and let us know just what type of files you are trying to save.

And, if you want, email me one of your pics and let me try with it.

This is becoming a hard nut to crack, but crack it we will!

I have a Dell Vostro 200, use windows and and ADSL     The files I try to attach are from my photographs, the ones I've tried to attach, one at a time, have already been posted on facebook and some on the ME forum and sent to other private on-line addresses.     No great problem giving my ME username, but I prefer not to at the moment.
I click on attach and other options and select a photo from my computer, then click post.    After only a few seconds the uploading stops and a notice pops up saying your file could not be saved.    this might happen because it took too long to upload or the file is bigger than the server will allow.     Please consult your server administrator for more information.

Sparkie,
The file size limit and number of images per post for attachments is directly below the window to choose file. Here is what is says, "Restrictions: 8 per post, maximum total size 10240KB"

So if your file is larger than the limit you need to resize the the image.
