Very close to giving up.    Opened a photobucket account and can't seem to upload, as when I select ""upload from your computer" the browse files options will not open.     Tried to upload from facebook and that stalled after only uploading 55% of a 28 image file.       Will try and find the smallest file I can, it may be one of my dog, and try attaching it, by selecting through browse  and clicking post.
Well that didn't work, all I got after only a few seconds was:
Your attachment couldn't be saved.    This might happen because it took too long to load or the file is bigger than the server will allow.    Please consult your server administrator for more information.     As I said before, I upload to Facebook,eBay and other forums without any problems.    Looks like this forum will be deprived of the dubious delights of my photos.

It just gets better, I've had two PMs which will not open, must have done something really bad in my last incarnation!

Sparkplug, what is you user name on ME forum, I can look at how you have posted photos there and suggest a way to get them on here.

... and not quite what I was expecting.

I don't have a Photobucket account, but I suppose it's easier?

Ok that gives me enough to pick up where your file is. You have two options:

1. Add a link:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/27950278@N04/8187079153/

This is just copy/pasting the text from under the "share", then "grab the link" option.

2: Embedding an image

What I have done is gone to you flicker account and found the address of your jpg file by extracting it from the grab http code: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8483/8187079153_30ef7d3922_n.jpg. Flicker does not make it easy for you their HTML/BBCode they provide is full of stuff you don't need. All you want is the address that begins/ends: HTTP//..........jpg it is hidden on about the fourth line after the bit that starts "src=". I have then wrapped it with some HTTP code putting [ IMG ] before and [ /IMG ] after, when you add these two remove the space.

Ray,

You only need the part enclosed between [*img] and [/img]  to have the picture shown
(all '*' in the lines below should be removed, I added them to make the lines visible)

[*img]http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8483/8187079153_30ef7d3922.jpg[/img]

====

The whole link as You took it from flickr (again, all '*' ...)

[*url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/27950278@N04/8187079153/][*img]http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8483/8187079153_30ef7d3922.jpg[/img][/url]
[*url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/27950278@N04/8187079153/]Exe 2.5[/url] di [*url=http://www.flickr.com/people/27950278@N04/]molishedman[/url], su Flickr

shoud show like this

Exe 2.5 di molishedman, su Flickr

====

If You're using photobucket or flickr generated tags, just copy them a the appropriate position into the post WITHOUT clicking the "insert picture" or "insert hyperlink" buttons.
The forum tags are already present into those lines and adding some more (by pressing the insert buttons) would mess up the post.

Hitting "Preview" will let You check the appearance of what You're going to post.

The Flickr BBCode:

[(A)url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/27950278@N04/8187079153/][(C)img]http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8483/8187079153_30ef7d3922.jpg[/img(D)][/url(B)]
[(E)url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/27950278@N04/8187079153/]Exe 2.5[/url(F)] di [(G)url=http://www.flickr.com/people/27950278@N04/]molishedman[/url(H)], su Flickr

in the first line

(A) The url tag defines the address of Your Flickr page where the picture is shown ==> I.E. Clicking the picture will bring You there. The line will be ended on the next [/url] tag, at (B)
(C) the image tag defines the address of the image to be shown, the address will be ended on the next [/img], at (D)
You'll notice the tags (C)and(D) are included between the (A)(B) pair

in the second line
(E) same as (A), will be ended at (F) ==> Clicking "Exe 2.5" will bring You to the same page as when clicking the picture (You see, the address is the same than in the line abobe)
(G) Address of Your Fickr Album, will be ended at (H). ===> clicking "molishedman" will send You to Your album page.

Now, all what is only needed to show a picture is what You can see included between (C) and (D) i.e. between [img-start-tag] and [/img-end-tag]

[(C)img]http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8483/8187079153_30ef7d3922.jpg[/img(D)]

BUT

Quote
The direct link to a photo file is no longer shown on the page. Per the Flickr Community Guidelines "pages on other websites that display content
hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr." Linking directly to the photo file doesn't do this.

So, all the BBCode lines should be included into the forum posts.

I suppose they're tempting us into placing our comments right below the picture.

It not a lot of use if it causes it not to work.

Edit: "Should" is only advisory. In engineering a requirement that states should is termed a "nice if it does is but if it doesn't you still get full payment" ;)

I failed miserably at getting Flickr to comply with my wishes. So I opened a PB account and got a result!

http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o774/shedraggle/bronzegears.jpg[/img]]

That was a struggle too  -  not the posting, getting PB to work. I use Opera in Ubuntu linux and it didn't wanna play, so I went to Chrome, which I may use for MEM and Madmodder from now on as I was getting fed up of screen sizes deciding for themselves.

Hi

I don't know if this is related but I have been trying for a couple of hours now to get photobucket to work but I can't. All I get is a grey looking page and none of the buttons work

Maybe the site is having problems.

Cheers

Rich
