Still can't seem to upload photos

Hi. All
         I know from experience that it isn't the site I'm on, but the finger on the keyboard.      You may have to humour me here, but I select a photo file and open it, which displays in the attachment window, I then click post, which it tells you to do in HELP, but nothing happens.     If I click the insert image icon all I get is this  the same happens when I click a smiley, for instance      Any assistance would be appreciated.

Well, you appear to be doing it right, and your permissions are OK - can't understand it at all.

Hi Lee, I see you are selecting a folder. When you select the folder it should open the files within it. Then you select the photo you wish to post then click attach. If I am reading you correctly you are trying to post a folder not a particular file,you can not post a folder it contains many files, only one file at a time.
If you have a photo editing program you can resample the image and reduce its size, if you think they are to large.

If you have your pictures uploaded, go to the specific picture you want
If you look at the attachment below, I have a picture open in my photobucket account

Open another internet tab and pull up MEM.

Start your post in MEM.   

Once your at this point where you want to put in a pictures, open the PB tab, and right mouse click on the box to the right that says  "IMG CODE"

It should highlight with the word "copied"

Open the MEM tap with your reply in process, and right mouse click where you want the picture and a windows dialog box will open.
click "Paste" and the IMG code linking your PB picture will be put in to your post.

You won;t see the picture at this point, but it will show when you post your thread.

It's pretty easy actually, and you get pretty fast at doing it.

I had another go this morning in the CNC assisted stock engine from plans section, with the same results.     Now I regularly upload photos to Facebook, eBay and the ME forum, so I can't see the file size would be a problem, which is what the system is saying when it stops trying to upload and closes after only a few seconds.     It surely can't be as complected as having to compose outside of the dialogue box and paste photos.
What I'm doing is to click on attachments, select a image and open.     I then click insert image and post,
Is there something I'm doing wrong, as IT isn't exactly my strongest suit!!!!!!!!

Clicking "insert image" is of no use, unless You provide and url for the image itself from some freely accessible web server (photobucket, flickr ...)
The  img][/img (plus the missing square brackets I removed to have it shown) You see when editing the text give the forum software the hint to look for an image at the address written between them

  img]http://..... / image.jpg"[/img

As for the forum software saying the file size being too big I cannot help: are You sure the total size of the attachments is below the 10240KB limit?

I did exacly what You said on my previous "test" post, and the picture appeared.
Try attaching a very small picture to a post.

Leave 'insert image' alone - you just select you image and 'open', which should put you file name in the little box,  then press 'post'.

Hi, there is an easier way
Go to photo bucket
Place the curser on the pic and click on image code at the very bottom
Re open the MEM tab and to place the pic in text simply hold down Ctrl and type V

This brings up the image code and the pic can be seen in preview
It has to be simple for a computer dummy like me

What seems to be the problem, as far as I can make out, is that he is trying to use a combination of 'attach' and 'insert image', which is never gonna work. Either follow the instructions to post via Photobucket or similar (insert image) OR the ones on how to attach an image (attachment), don't jumble the two.

Provided the image is not too large, I don't see what the problem is? The instructions on sites like Photobucket are quite clear.

File sizes from my camera are often around 30Mb so I resize to 800 or 1000 pixels wide and ensure the file size does not exceed around 400Kb.
Once uploaded to Photobucket simply click to copy the code and then paste the code into the thread.  Preview shows what you're going to see.
