I've just tried printing a set and it looks like they will work... once I reset up the printer  and fit the print head cooling fan that I purchased for it months ago  ::)

Do you have CAD? it would be fun run a few on our HP Multi Jet Fusion printer here at work.

I don't know what plastic materials Dave can offer with his(?) HP Multi Jet Fusion printer. Maybe Dave has some high strength material available. If not, provided the gear is the correct shape but not strong enough, you could get some printed by www. sculpteo. com or a similar print house, in one of their more exotic reinforced plastic materials

It may be another option

These would be solid Nylon PA12

Sounds like a good strong material to try.

Can't see why the first gear could not be made from two pieces soldered together as it has straight cut gears.

Second one does not show any undercut of the pinion so again could have been cut and soldered to the skew gear.

Everything that has been made can be made again... it is all a case of how much time and effort you want to put into it  ::)

The ex-factory price for each gear is 10p each, the problem is minimum order 1000 plus £30 shipping  :toilet_claw: Last year I purchased two full assemblies, including the electric motors, for £6 each.

Here is a picture of the printed gears, not sure if they would work or not; they are pretty tiny.
The porous looking surface is only skin deep, under the gray is solid Nylon. This is caused by the transition between the part and powder bed that it is built in.
One thing is for sure I doubt that you would ever have much luck printing them on an FDM machine.

They look rather good  :) Much better than I managed on my printer.
