New member from Southeastern Mass.
« on: April 28, 2020, 02:56:38 PM »
Hello everyone.
I found this forum when I was looking for info on making a Farm Boy engine. I am a machinist by trade. My only build so far has been a steam engine from plans on eBay. It came out good and runs well on compressed air. I am not sure about trying to build a boiler or not. I found some plans that don't seem to complicated. The question is will they generate enough steam. Anyway I bought the Farm Boy plans and for now I am studying them. There is a member here building an air cooled version that intrigues me.

Welcome from an EX Massachusetts guy- 30 years in Framingham before retiring to Maine.

Are you aware of the New England Model Engineering Society? They are a group of guys interested in all aspects of machining and precision work. They meet monthly at the Charles River Museum of Industry in Waltham MA. Thats in the mill complex that was the first purpose built mill in the USA.
Its a great group of guys. I started the group and was president until I retired, I still get there for the annual model engineering show every February.

I have never heard of this group. I am new to engine modeling and Waltham is not exactly local to me. I am just outside of New Bedford.
