ANZACs - We will remember them
« on: April 24, 2020, 07:36:49 PM »
E kore rātou e kaumātuatia
Pēnei i a tātou kua mahue nei
E kore hoki rātou e ngoikore
Ahakoa pehea i  ngā āhuatanga o te wā
I te hekenga atu o te rā
Tae noa ki te aranga mai i te ata
Ka maumahara tonu tātou ki a rātou
Ka maumahara tonu tātou ki a rātou.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them
We will remember them.

This song is performed by the Irish folk singer, Liam Clancy. I doubt anyone could pay a better vocal tribute to the sacrifice of the ANZAC soldiers

It is the journey that matters, not the destination

Sometimes, it can be a long and winding road

A very appropriate thread, to cause us to pause for some moments and remember what others have had to go through, on this day when we are unable to gather in the usual way.  All our returned servicemen and women appreciate meeting up with their mates this day each year.

Not bad, but I still prefer the composer “Eric Bogle”’s rendition.

The destination motivates us toward excellence, the journey entertains us, and along the way we meet so many interesting people.

Somehow this morning at 0600, The Ode followed by The Last Post at more than fair volume reverberated and gently echoed through our neighbourhood..

I suspect it may have been via many television sets featuring our ABC's live presentation from our National War Memorial in Canberra

Lest we forget
