MEM Corliss help needed
« on: April 05, 2020, 02:16:36 PM »
I am building the MEM Corliss and am about to tackle the valve disk and the valve disk arms. I cannot see any detail given for the pits that fit on the disk for the arms.
- how do the pins fit to the disk ? the drawing show 1/16" holes whilst the  J de Waal shows these holes tapped M2.
- what is the detail for the pins ?

The same query for the valve levers, what fits into the 0.063" DIA hole shown ?

I have one or two ideas of my own how to make an arrangement but want to make sure I have not missed anything on the drawings.

thanks  Andrew

Hi Astroud,

Looking at the plans, you have a lot of options!..   I would make up a simple pin that anchors in the plate, but allows the valve rods to rotate about easily.

Loctite would do well here.

Here' s a link to the original design thread, it's a great read!

Unfortunately, Bob isn't with us anymore, but I'll be glad to answer questions as Im sure others here will as well.

Regards,
Dave

thanks, some pictures which will help.
Just concerned I am missing a drawing or drawing detail but it seems not.

Looks like the way forward is some simple pins on the disc pressed in or held with loctite  and headed pins screwed onto the levers.

Hi Andrew

I tapped the holes and used a lock nut on the other side.  Have a look here:
