R8 to ER32 Collet Chuck
« on: April 05, 2020, 04:01:21 PM »
Hi Troops

Looking to get one of the above  :ThumbsUp:

Chronos do it with a heap of collets which I already have so perchance NO!

Warco & ARC ( at present awol ) want £40+ not incl. P/P.   ::)

RDG £30+   :thinking:

NONE of the above seem to have spanner flats on the things either which I would have thought are required ?

So .................

Found this outfit which are cheaper, £26 ish to my door, and it appears to have the flats ....  :)

https://www.shop-apt.co.uk/r8-er-collet-chucks/r8-er32-collet-chuck-for-er32-collets-63mm-gauge-length.html

Has anyone used this supplier?

I haven't heard of them.

Dave

I've got one of their boring bars and get quite a few cutters and inserts from them all are far eastern but of a good standard.

Gloster tools would be another one to try. https://www.glostertooling.co.uk/ I have one of their ER16 chucks on the CNC.

As for flats a lot will depend on your machine. My X3 has no easy way to lock the spindle so I have flats on the ER32 but the SX2.7 and KX3 both have a hole at the end of the spindle for a Tommy bar so just use that in one hand and nut spanner in the other.

May be worth an e-mail just to check that it's not just a generic photo.
