Gardner "0" (Alyn Foundry)
« on: March 27, 2020, 10:44:06 AM »
Good morning - hope you are all keeping busy and sane during this period of social distancing.

My wife bought my casting set for the Alyn Foundry Gardner "0" way back in about 2005 as something to do in my future retirement.

In the intervening years we have now retired and relocated 150 miles north-eastward and my original drawings are proving to have found a safe hiding place - so safe that I cannot find them.

Luckily back in 2005 I must have scanned the plans in sections on an A4 flatbed scanner with a view to printing off parts of the plans to take into the workshop where they will undoubtedly get dirty. I have now largely recreated the full sheets by cutting and pasting sections together. Unfortunately the scanning of Sheet No. 1 has a couple of bits of information missing.

Could anybody who has the full drawings let me know.....

The description of component 28 and its material specification - I have the dimensions - it is a cylindrical bush, so I'm guessing bronze, but it would be nice to be sure.

What is the full text in the top right corner under the "600 Series"? I have -

    Ref.
   Timing
   Centre

but the rest is off the edge.

I am making steady progress with the castings and relearning skills that I had 20 years ago, which became a bit stale during the protracted period with no workshop prior to our relocation.

Thanks......

That's great Jo and Andy - many thanks for your prompt assistance.

I only hope I manage to turn my castings into something half as impressive as your  wonderful machine Andy
