Propeller for 1/4 scale Anzani Y type
« on: February 07, 2020, 07:06:57 PM »
Hello
I am building the 1/4 scale Anzani engine to the Len Chenery drawings. In the build notes he says to use 20 inch diameter prop with 8 inch pitch. Although such props are available commercially the hub isn't sufficiently large to fit the Anzani. The only way forward seems to carve my own and if i am going this way then why not try to make a scale model of the Ebora Type 24 prop? Since  will be a challenge in itself i am concerned that the resulting prop wont have sufficient inertia to help the engine run smoothly. Applying some very rusty engineering principles says that the inertia reduces by the fifth power of the dimensions.
For 1/4 scale this is 1/1024!!
Am i heading for disaster?
Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks Trevorc

Probably!

Talk to Punctillo (http://www.punctiliopropellers.co.uk/punctilio1.htm). They make wooden props for models, UAVs and microlights - I'd be very surprised if they can't provide something suitable.

Good evening Trevorc,
Curious about your Anzani building report.
Is there a thread about this?
