Hello Everyone
« on: November 15, 2019, 02:39:07 PM »
What a fantastic site.  So much talent and craftsmanship and support for all members projects!  My experience is with two-stroke engines specifically marine engines.  I started (50 years ago) in control line racing and combat and transitioned into boats in the early 1970's.  We had to adapt airplane engines for marine use and eventually saw vendor supplied versions that made life better.

My interest in these engines led me to build a machine shop over time and learn how to accomplish the steps necessary to support them.  I am not a machinist by trade but love learning how to do it.  Continuing to read and enjoy this site.......

Regards...........Rick

Hello Rick,

Another welcome from another Mike. This time from the UK.

You will find the MEM forum to be full of warm, friendly and talented people with a passion for what they do. Do not be afraid, or intimidated, to ask if you have a question. You will be sure to get helpful advise and plenty of encouragement.

It is the journey that matters, not the destination

Sometimes, it can be a long and winding road

Thank you everyone.  Over the last 5 to 7 years I have been assembling engines for customers and only took a minimum of pictures.  I am now trying to reorganize the shop so I can find everything again if you know how that is.  In the meantime I send you this.  The engine does not go into the boat in the background.  It is just the best photo I have at present.  The other photo is typical of repairs I performed.

Hi Rick

Welcome to MEM! What part of the world do you call home?

Dave

Hello Dave:

Thanks for the welcome and I am sorry to be slow to respond as I have had some computer issues to resolve in order to continue posting.  My home in in the eastern end of Tennessee.  We still have some color (brown, yellow and orange) on some of the trees but that will not last much longer.

Rick
