5c lathe chucks
« on: November 15, 2019, 12:49:18 AM »
I am looking to purchase a 5c Lathe chuck, and saw this one from alibaba https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/5C-lathe-Collet-Chuck-3911-125_60593414317.html?spm=a2700.details.maylikeexp.27.7c80607clNy30B

Has anyone have any information about this chuck or similar ones. I am not able to spend a fortune on one so will have to compromise a bit.

I have had a couple of those over the years. They work ok.

Originally they were made as chucks for jigs. Sometimes batches are made where the rear register is not as good as you need for a lathe. You need to take this up this error on your backplate.

Thanks Jo. I actual ended up purchasing an Accusize one from Amazon it was double the price that the one shown but still 1/2 the price of any that I could buy locally. I was able to get a spin indexer and a square collet block and 1/2 dozen collets for $212 Cnd from a friend who works in a tool supplier here in town basically 1/2 the retail cost so all in all I came out happy with my new toys tools

Hi Mike
What lathe are you mounting this on? I have been eyeing one of these for some time. I have a set of inferial 5C collets just waiting to be used.

Some relevant info from Accusize site.
