« on: November 04, 2012, 10:57:16 AM »

Since patterns are the common starting point of most sand castings, I thought it may be beneficial to provide a link to a build log that describes the methods I used for making the patterns to cast my

Those are nice patterns Bez. One thing I need practice at. I do want to start one day, but I have myself spread thin now. Once I decid to retire I my have more time. Right now time is limited.

Very nice set of patterns . I see that they have been nicely rounded, smoothed and varnished (?), very necessary to stop the sand sticking. In my experience (I have only cast once :embarassed:) a well finished pattern helps discourage flashing on the casting.

Hi Bez,
Nice to see projects where constructors are using their own castings, I have found it much more rewarding. Have just made the patterns for a beam engine and am waiting for a nice sunny day to do some casting.

              Cheers David

Well  :hi: to the forum David.

I'd like to see your beam engine,  are you going to publish a build log?
