Jim
I hate that as much as you. Anything after an engine runs is just an annoyance that delays starting a new build.
However, I've got 4+ months in this engine and it was an expensive build. Castings, barstock that I didn't have, painting,  etc., so 5 days of finishing seemed reasonable.
Best,
Stan

Now don't go playing that expense card, I'll start feeling sorry for you and mail you some cornbread and ham hocks :lolb:. Believe me, as I get farther into this 1:1 scale car restoration, it ain't the spraying, it's the prep before it :Director: :smokin2:.  I think I have bought about $200 worth of wire discs and 3M pads thus far. As I have watched you step up your level of build each time, does this mean we'll see some work by Faberge on the next build?  ;) 8)

You send the cornbread. I'll send the cheddar from Vermont next month.
The only eggs you see from here are over easy

Stan my friend your doing a hell of a job. You know my favorite part of and engine build is finishing it. It ain't done till it's finished. When your done you will look back and see a beautiful looking specimen that you created. It don't get much better than that buddy. And Stan I like.................. :praise2:

That preparation might cause me to get off my bum and do some thing about some stuff I've got. As good as the making of this engine has been, and looking forward to seeing how the colour looks in the 21st century. Hugh.

Rider Ericsson ¼ scale - Hot Air and Pumped!
Episode 22

Short Update

I picked up the painted parts this morning. A bit of a story.
Jim Caruso, the painter, had a color sample board with the Rubicelle Maroon and a few other variations in that area.
After mulling it over last week, I decided that the Rubicelle Maroon was too muted for this engine. I finally went with a bit brighter variant.

Here’s Jim, this morning, wrapping up the parts. You can tell he’s a pro because he has a white T-shirt with paint on it.

Family portrait

Finally, I drove to the other end of the world to pick up the laser engraved side plates for the pump.

More brass to polish and some other shining and I’ll put it all together. It’s getting closer to an actual end.

Best,
Stan

Looks fantastic Stan!  All your fettling and polishing really paid off in the finish. I love the engraved sides of the pump housing too. Truly makes it your OWN!!

Looks fantastic Stan, and I'd say that Jim's a pro because he has a white t-shirt on without very much paint on it. Hugh.

One of the reasons I had the painting done. I generally get more paint on me than on what  I'm painting.

Just beautiful Vern, got that all hot and bothered wet look. Now, if he didn't include free touch up, give it plenty of time to cure and be double damn careful on assembly.

He did tell me to try and keep the burner heat off for a few weeks.
There is a few ounces of paint that he has for touchup

Hi Bob:

Don't forget the blue color which was the final color scheme.  Everything blue except the furnace. This was the color of their electric pumps also and both were built during the same time.  Brad Smith
