Recently completed G3, 2.5in gauge model of GWR City of Truro.

The model is entirely scratch built including the wheels which are aluminium with steel tyres, it is R/C controlled 18v DC motor.
Batteries are in the boiler splace and accessed through opening smokebox door, the electrics are in the tender also the sound card with the speaker under the coal

It has been a great pleasure to build in this scale, the engines seem almost real.

I'll say!  That engine looks gorgeous!
So, at 2.5" gauge, how long is the whole model?  About 18" (he says, taking a wild stab?).

What a beautiful model that is, and a glorious prototype that you have chosen for your subject.  My guess is that it is a fair size, bigger than Kim's suggestion ,maybe 26" long? and quite a chunky piece of model engineering.  To make it all from scratch is a remarkable piece of craftsmanship.   Dave

Thanks for your kind comments, the engine and tender is 32in long, this the second engine I have built to G3 the first being a GWR Pannier Tank.

Well, j wasn't quite half in my (very poor) guess.  Thanks for the follow-up.  Guess 2.5" gauge isn't much smaller the the 3.5" gauge, so I should have guessed higher (clearly!)
Beautiful model, regardless!
