For the love of the 1 x 42
« on: August 20, 2019, 03:41:18 AM »
Finished an overhaul of one I purchased some time ago...new wheels, and bearings, and a motor....the motor is a 1/3 HP so it's a bit gutless...but it'll do for small stuff.... :pinkelephant:...does need a switch though.... 8)    My "dirty" table is near done...I'll take some photo's and put them in the Shop reorg thread.....it's coming along nicely....

Per, he is talking about a belt sander with a 1" wide by 42" long belt which is  common size here in the USA.

I thought it might be a 1" thick piece of wood 42" wide, but we normally quote the wide measurement first  ::)

Eh, my first guess was some odd 1x42 mill vs the typical 9x42.

Think thats another language difference for opposite sides of the pond - we say 2x4 lumber over here, you usually say 4x2. Must be a big mirror in the middle of the Atlantic ocean!
