Unknown Lathe No. 41
« on: August 04, 2019, 09:26:54 PM »
Most folks have been to the UK Lathes site to check out some lathe or other machines, I was glancing through the index and saw the unknown lathes section. I, of course, did not know any of them but unknown No. 41 is the sweetest small lathe I have ever seen. Check it out:

Tony and I have had various conversation about after I pointed out some of its oddities. No one seems to know who made it. I've asked on a number of forums and, because it has some le blonde like features, I asked them too.

I think it was some modeller's pet project . It doesn't seem designed as a complete entity , rather something that has evolved. As a consequence, some bits have not been completed : carriage feed , screw cutting half nuts etc.

I would love to own it and finish it.

I would agree Bill, There is provision there for a feed shaft, but it's not there.....the obvious lack of a carriage crank ect.     It's still beautiful!....

I would love to build a 9" SouthBend that size....  8-)
